Disappearing Act and Jewelry Thefts Highlight Sheriff's Report

The following information was provided by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

High Ridge Boulevard, High Ridge

A woman who lives in an apartment on High Ridge Boulevard, handed her boyfriend her engagement ring Jan. 11 when he told her he wanted to show her a magic trick. Instead, he ran out the front door and disappeared. The ring is valued at $5,000.

Brook Drive, Fenton

A black Sentry safe containing $582 in cash was stolen Jan. 5 from a home on Brook Drive, Fenton.  The homeowner said entry to the home was through a rear door that had been pried open.

A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend had broken into her home on Jan. 7, found her Buck knife and was sitting in her living room after cutting his wrist left wrist lengthwise with her knife. He then fled. The man still had the knife with him when deputies found him sitting on the bank of a dry creek bed.

High Ridge Boulevard, High Ridge

A 1996 Quest minivan was stolen shortly after a woman and her boyfriend returned home from a store. The woman suspected a neighbor who had stopped by to visit, but the neighbor said he had no knowledge of the stolen vehicle and said relatives could vouch for his whereabouts at the time of the theft.

Apple Tree Court, Fenton

A man and a woman reported that jewelry and cash totalling $9,400 was stolen Jan. 9 from their home on Apple Tree Court, Fenton. Entry to the home had been made by forcing the front door. Missing was $3,300.00 in cash, three rings, two pairs of earrings, two necklaces and a $6,100 watch. Deputies noted that the man had won $3,600 from a St. Louis casino on Jan. 7. The couple could not provide any suspected information on the theft.

Willow Glen Drive, Fenton

A woman reported jewelry had baan stolen from her home on Willow Glen Drive., Fenton, sometime in November 2011. She told deputies she hadn't reported the thefts because she didn't notice the items were missing until she received a tip the someone was trying to sell the jewely for their scrap metal value. She said those who allegedly stole the items had been in her home last November.

Willow Glen Drive, Fenton

A 200 Harley Davidson Classic custom motorcycle, painted orange with purple flames and valued at $12,000, was stolen Dec. 14 from the driveway of a home on Willow Glen Drive, Fenton. The owner said the motorcycle was inoperable. It had a flat tire and no drivetrain. Deputies discovered tire tracks in the yard that backed up to a set of railroad tracks, which they said appeared to be the loading area for the stolen motorcycle.
