Spirit of St. Louis Band Delights with Spring Concert
Lindbergh High School was preparing for a competition this weekend.
The Lindbergh High School Spirit of St. Louis Band presented their spring concert last week at Lindbergh High School, in preparation for the bandβs participation in the St. Louis Suburban Solo and Ensemble Festival at Florissant Valley Community College.
The Freshman Band played Robert Sheldonβs "Appalachian Morning," and Richard Saucedoβs "American Barndance." The Concert Band followed with Brain Balmagesβs "Summer Dances," and Joseph Curialeβs "Joy." The Symphonic Band rounded out the evening with John Paynterβs arrangement of Malcolm Arnoldβs "Four Scottish Dances," and David Gillinghamβs "With Heart and Voice."
The band is excited for its upcoming performance at the St. Louis Suburban Festival. βItβs always tricky when youβre rehearsing right before a concert,β band director Dan Arana said. β'With Heart and Voice' has complicated time signature changes. Itβs very hit or miss when we play it. Tonight seemed to go well.β
