This recommendation is based on data collected from nursing home patients and studies from Israel suggesting that suggest that antibody levels decline over time and are less protective against all symptomatic COVID-19 infection. As the Delta-variant is surging across most of the United States, higher levels of antibody protection will be needed to prevent COVID-19 infection.
The two-dose series remains protective against severe disease, hospitalization and death. SSM Health will be ready to provide booster doses to eligible employees, patients and the general public beginning the week of Sept. 20.
