Booster recommendations
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) authorized a Pfizer-BioNTech booster dose for people at high risk of serious illness from the COVID-19 virus. Healthcare providers across the country, including SSM Health, now are reviewing all of the CDC recommendations and putting in place workflows as quickly as possible for patients to receive a booster dose. We are not currently scheduling any booster appointments at this time. Please check back here for updates.

The CDC has authorized a COVID-19 booster dose for:
- People 65 years of age and older
- Residents of long-term care and congregate living facilities
- 18-64-year-olds with certain underlying medical conditions
- Individuals whose occupations put them at high risk for exposure to COVID-19
Moderately to severely immunocompromised patients who have received a two-dose course of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are eligible to receive a third dose at least four weeks after the initial two-dose series is completed. For more information on vaccinations for the immunocompromised, visit the CDC website.
