Area 13 Annexation a Dead Issue

Area 13 residents, which has the boundaries of Old Halls Ferry Road, Lindbergh Boulevard and Coldwater Creek, including Spring Creek Condominiums and St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, overwhelmingly voted no to being annexed into Florissant with 74 percent of the vote Tuesday. Florissant residents approved the measure with 70 percent approval.

Mayor Tom Schneider said he was disappointed and surprised Wednesday afternoon.

“They’ve made it pretty clear,” he said regarding the residents interest in becoming Florissant residents.

The mayor said that meetings were held with Area 13 residents and letters sent out to them prior to the vote on the annexation, but residents still declined.

He said that no further plans or discussions have been made on the issue at the time.
