Republican Voters Don’t Like Their Candidate

Fox News attempted to paint Mitt Romney as an everyday kind of a guy who irons his own shirts, has a sacrilege of putting peanut butter on pancakes, and has worn shirts from Costco.  But Ann Romney blew it when she said “Hey that shirt looks pretty good.”  The American people are not dumb.  Mitt Romney is not a common guy.  I bet my right arm that he doesn’t wear Costco shirts 99% of the time.  Things are tough when a politician starts comparing himself to Popeye.  “I am who I am.”  The President is way ahead in the likability polls 64% to 25%.

It’s important for all politicians to portray who they are.  Mitt Romney and the Republican Convention cannot pander to the voter’s intelligence.  If they try to portray him as something that he’s not, it will be as phony as a $3 bill.

When you get to the more critical polling issues - candidates economic priorities – President Obama favors middle class 61% and Mitt Romney favors wealthy 60%.  President Obama understands economic problems people are having 49% and Mitt Romney 37%.  Mitt Romney has not done a good job of understanding everyday people.  Racial dog whistles (welfare reform and birth certificates) may be good tools to fire up Romney’s Republican base and get votes but it does not solve problems.  

The people know Mitt: Tax dodger/avoider, 20+ million IRA, Stericycle, Bain Capital greed - taking peoples pensions and outsourcing jobs to other countries, like to fire people, liar, bully, draft dodger, worse job creator as Governor - 47th out of 50, Olympics you took 410 Billion from the Federal Government to do it, cruelty to animals roof racking.  Mitt’s promise “On my first day in office, I vow to deny health care to 50,000,000 Americans.”
