This Could Be The Most Effective Fat Loss Exercise There Is

Running a few hill sprints will allow you to lose fat and keep the muscle.

One of the best exercises you can do for fat loss is to run hill sprints. Look at the leanest athletes in the world, guys like Steven Jackson of the Rams or David Freese of the Cardinals. They sprint at high intensities and do next to zero traditional cardio exercise.

Running hill sprints is great when it comes to fat loss because it elevates your metabolism for 48 hours or more. Traditional cardio workouts such as walking on the treadmill only gives you a boost for a couple of hours.Β

Running hill sprints also helps you build muscle. The more lean muscle mass you have the easier it will be to burn fat and remain lean. Running a few hill sprints will allow you to lose fat and keep the muscle. The end result is a leaner, healthier looking you.Β

I recommend hill sprints in place of flat ground sprints for the simple reason that they are safer because of the reduced impact. Somewhere between thirty and sixty degrees is the optimal incline and youβ€˜ll want to have about 40-60 yards of open grass to sprint up.

Be sure to warm up for ten minutes before hand by running a couple of laps around an oval track with some stretching and performing a few reps of body weight exercises such as jumping jacks and squats.Β

Start out slow; just two to three hill sprints on your first day will be plenty. Eventually you’ll get to the point where you’re doing about six-10 all out hill sprints two days per week. When you reach the top rest long enough to catch your breath between sprints, and then slowly walk back down the hill and repeat. The whole workout, warm up included, should take no more than thirty minutes.

Summer is here and the weather’s getting warmer. Time to ditch the treadmill and go find yourself a hill!
