Vacant Building Gets Put to Good Use

Once vacant bulding now filled with promise for North County teens at risk.

I don't know about you, but I feel gratified when I see a vacant building put to good use especially when it will benefit the youth in the area.

That's what happened on Tuesday when Preferred Family Healthcare opened its North St. Louis Office at 11701 W. Florissant Ave.

The once empty interior was now painted in warm and welcoming colors and divided into areas that would provide a safe haven for youth at risk. Funded by St. Louis County Children's Service Fund, trained staff at this site will offer free outpatient substance abuse treatment programs to youth ages 12-17.

Instead of having to go over the river into St. Charles or into other parts of St. Louis County, area teens can now get help at a site that once sat empty but is now filled with hope.
