City Councilors Struggle Lacking Administration Presence

Mayor Schneider makes it known to the council the administration should have been considered in rescheduled work session.

Although the Florissant City Council had a number of items to discuss during Monday night’s , one unexpected topic remained a consistent part of the meeting.

Upon the opening of the meeting, City Clerk Karen Goodwin read a letter from stating his disappointment that the council didn’t consider the administration in its plans to have a June 6 work session as it conflicted with another event on the same date.

The work schedule had originally been scheduled for May 25, but was canceled due to bad weather.

The council decided to proceed with the work session despite the mayor’s objections as several said it was a session for councilors.

However, the need of an administrative representative became evident as councilors questioned issues such as the update on the budget from the first quarter as well as how city employee overtime had been distributed and from where.

The council agreed to push for a meeting with the administration regarding the issues, and they hope to establish monthly work session meetings.
