Ferguson-Florissant Schools May Face $10 Million Budget Shortfall

With a shortfall of up to $10 million looming, eyes and ears will be on the Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education Wednesday night as they receive a preliminary 2013-2014 fiscal year budget.

Last week, Superintendent Art McCoy sent a letter to parents detailing the district’s budget situation and plans already in place to reduce costs, including the restructuring of summer school, limiting book purchases and establishing a foundation for a capital campaign.

"We are committed to meeting our financial challenges in a way that maintains our focus on students and preserves the strength and spirit of the District," McCoy wrote in the letter. "I am confident that we will not only succeed in this, but that we will emerge stronger as a result of our commitment to working together. Thank you for your continued support of the Ferguson-Florissant School District."
