With the summer season's heat increasing, so are the local crimes.

June 22
A second-degree burglary took place in the 300 block of South Lafayette. The burglar entered the residence through a basement window. The resident reported jewelry, a cell phone and coins had been taken.

Police responded to an attempted first-degree burglary in the 13800 block of New Halls Ferry. A neighbor observed a man attempting to open a rear patio door, but he fled upon seeing the resident. No suspects have been named in the crime.Â

A second-degree burglary took place in the 2400 block of Heron. The thief entered through a bedroom window and took a TV, laptop and coins.
June 27
Police responded to a second-degree burglary in the first block of Cornflower. Police discovered that the rear door had been forced open. The burglar stole three flat-screen TVs, a cell phone and coins were taken.
June 28
A second-degree burglary took place in a vacant house in the 1500 block of St. Anthony. The thief broke the glass on the rear door to enter the property. Only copper piper had been stolen.
