Great Rivers Greenway and the City of Bridgeton to host "Good Morning Greenway" Fitness Walk to celebrate the new Earth City Levee Trail in the Missouri River Greenway on June 27
GRG hosts "Good Morning Greenway"
Residents of the region are now able to walk, bike or run on a three-mile paved trail that loops through Bridgetonβs Riverwoods Park and extends another 1.65 miles to Highway 370, thanks to a new 3.15-mile trail extension in the Missouri River Greenway. Great Rivers Greenway will be celebrating the completion of this paved trail with an official ribbon cutting celebration followed by a βGood Morning Greenwayβ fitness walk on Saturday, June 27. The festivities will be held at the Trailhead in Riverwoods Park in Bridgeton, located on St. Charles Rock Road, approximately one-half mile past the intersection at Earth City Expressway. Area residents are invited to explore this new segment of the Missouri Greenway as they learn more about the history of the area, wetlands along the river, local plant and animal life, as well as the many health benefits of exercising in nature.
The new Missouri Greenway extension adds 1.5 miles to the existing 1.5-mile paved trail in Riverwoods Park, creating a three-mile trail that loops through the wooded park along the Missouri River. It also extends an additional 1.65 miles next to the Earth City Levee to a trailhead at Highway 370, creating almost five miles of greenway for people to explore and enjoy.
βThis is a wonderful new recreational asset for the people of the region,β says Susan Trautman, Executive Director of Great Rivers Greenway. βIt now offers almost five miles of paved trail in the greenway that stretches along the Missouri River. People of all ages and abilities have an expanded outdoor space for enjoying nature, beautiful views of the river, and the abundant wildlife found in the wetland forest. They can also take advantage of the sunshine and wide-open vistas as they travel next to the Earth City Levee. We are grateful for our partners at the City of Bridgeton and the Earth City Levee District who helped us expand this trail for all to enjoy.β
