Hazelwood Central Seniors Sign onto Missouri State
Jonathan Harris and Matt Dezort put their athletic commitment on paper.
When seniors Matt Dezort and started playing baseball at the age of 4, neither could have dreamed of playing college baseball together.
That was until Wednesday morning.
Dezort and Harris signed their letters of intent to Missouri State University to play baseball.

“It’s a relief,” Harris said. “The process was stressful and long, and I was ready to get it over with.”
In the Hazelwood Central’s library conference room with family and coaches, the two officially ended their college search and committed themselves to play baseball at Missouri State.

"This was a tough decision for me to make," he said previously. "I had over 50 schools to look at, but my parents and I narrowed it down to about 10 or 15. It all came down to what was good for me. I'm glad it's over for sure. Now, I can concentrate on my senior year and having fun."
This past season, according to one of our previous stories, Harris was 5-4 this past season with a 3.67 ERA, and he struck out 60 batters in 55 1/3 innings. Opponents hit only .194 against Harris.
Dezort batted .419 in 2010 and scored a team-high 38 runs and had a team-high .570 on-base percentage for the 2010 season.

“Both are very deserving,” he said. “I hope they have a great career there. Both are great students, and that’s what’s important.”
