Joe Eagan, Pat Stinnett Take Places at Florissant City Council Table
Both new councilors jumped into the workload during Monday night's meeting.
Ward 3 Councilman and Ward 6 Councilman took their seats behind the council podium on Monday night for their first Florissant City Council meeting as elected officials.
After their wins on Aug. 2 in the special election, Mayor Tom Schneider swore in Eagan and Stinnett at the beginning of the meeting and put them right to work.
Stinnett had two agenda items from his ward, including a request from Steve Purgahn to keep three American chickens and an amendment to authorize an outdoor dining area to . The council approved both measures in the meeting.

“The process begins,” he said following the meeting. “Nothing like getting thrown right into the wolves.”
Stinnett said that he’d already received three phone calls from residents about issues in the ward, but he said it’s only started to sink in that he’s a Florissant city councilman.

Other measures passed at the Florissant City Council meeting on Monday, include:
- A $20,000 appropriation for reimbursable umemployment benefits
- The authorization for the mayor to enter an agreement with St. Louis County and Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for the maintenance of automated red-light camera enforcement system
- An appropriation of $80,000 for the purchase of gas for the police department
