McCluer High School Class of 2011 Graduates in Good Spirits
With three valedictorians and four salutatorians, the class was full of hope and optimism for the future at its graduation.
More than 300 graduates and 1,000 family members took over the St. Charles Family Arena for the McCluer High School graduation on Tuesday night.
Principal Nicole Whitesell announced that her graduating seniors earned more than $1.2 million in scholarship award letters for this year. Forty-eight seniors completed the MissouriΒ A+ Scholarship Program, which earns them two years of tuition assistance for any Missouri state college or community college.
Taking honors classes can boost a studentβs GPA higher than 4.0, which is how a few students paved the way to the top of the class. The three Β valedictorians, Kristi Kohler, Jasmine Jones and Molly OβKeefe, all earned above a 4.4, while the four salutatorians, Scott Jost, Chase Dzierwa, Alison Wallace and Kyle Thies, all earned between a 4.2 and 4.4.
In addition to the valedictorians and salutatorians, 27 students earned a 4.0 or better, and 20 students were members of the National Honor Society.
Jeffrey Porter and Tamika Glass had the distinction of being the only two graduates with perfect attendance for all four years at McCluer High School.
Principal Whitesell made the crowd of students laugh during her parting speech on finding people who can be mentors, partners and cheerleaders in oneβs life, and valedictorian Kristi Kohler gave a short but sweet parting speech on how fast time passes.
McCluer High School has a long tradition of graduating classes presenting the school with a stained glass window. Marie Turner, co-president of the Β student body, gave the window to Superintendent .
