McCluer North Graduates Celebrates a High Achievement
The 2011 class broke the record for scholarship money with $3.4 million offered to the class.
graduate Eriyoma Ewharekuko took the stage first at the McCluer North graduation at the St. Charles Family Arena on Sunday to welcome everyone and ask that all electronic devicesΒ be silenced.
At McCluer North, every senior with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 4.4 or above is considered a valedictorian. Stephanie Meritt, Marcie Veit and Michael Wheadon met the criteria to be considered class valedictorians.
A GPA between 4.2 and 4.4 is considered a salutatorian, and five qualified. They are Miranda Graham, Joseph LeFors, Charles Pixley, Ian Princivalli and Kendra White.
Rebekah Gordan, Stephanie Meritt and Austin Edmonds were the student speakers.
Principal Shane Hopper pointed out all the outstanding accomplishments of the class, including the state champion boys basketball team, merit scholars, a shot putter who won at state and a musician who won a superior in state competition.
