More Details Revealed in Florissant's Census Numbers
A breakdown of the age groups and gender populations show more about Florissant's changing numbers in a decade.

With the release of more detailed numbers by the U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday, Florissant received a more in-depth look at the city, which showed a bit of growth in age groups and genders from 2000 to 2010.
The median age of Florissant increased to 38 from 37.1 in 2000. In addition, the male and female populations of Florissant increased by 563 and 1,098, respectively, for a total increase of 1,661.
Two of the largest reported age groups in 2000 dropped significantly in a 10-year period.

Each age groups of 35-39 and 40-44 dropped by 24 percent in population between 2000 and 2010, which allowed for a new age group to emerge as the biggest population in Florissant.
The age group of 25-29 grew from 3,263 in 2000 to 3,799 for a 16 percent increase.

Previously, reported in February that the city grew by 3 percent in the 10-year period, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The population grew by 1,600 residents, but the city’s rank in the state fell from No. 10 to No. 12.
