New Law: Florissant Pets Need Fence or Owner to be Outside

Find out what recently became law in Florissant:

• The council amended an ordinance with Substitute Bill 8831, which adds that an owner or adult must accompany a pet outside unless there is a visible fence or restraint for the animal. It also allows for an invisible fence could be added to the property along with signage.
• Council approved substitute bill 8832 unanimously. The bill adds requirements to the permit application, such as drawings of the pen/cage for the animal as well as a letter from a veterinarian and written consent from the majority of contiguous properties.
• Council approved substitute bill 8837, which allocated $10,000 to salaries and benefit budgets to allow for the hiring of the hiring of a part-time inspector and part-time inspection clerk for public works.
• Ordinance 7905 was approved, which transfers a legal non-conforming use to a special use for to Bottom’s Up Sports Bar.
• The City Council approved for Mayor Tom Schneider to enter into an user agreement with Subscriber Radios Interoperable Radio System.
• The Council unanimously supported a special use permit for an auto repair business at 1890 N. Highway 67.
• The Council approved a $22,000 allocation for the upgrading of software for employees’ computers citywide.
