NOCO STL Says Goodbye to Readers

After three years of providing North St. Louis County with positive news and information, NOCO STL, the online magazine for North St. Louis County,has come to an end.

Last Thursday, founding editor Shannon Howard wrote a good-bye post to readers and thanked everyone for the support that they’ve shown the site.

“NOCO fans, as you’ve undoubtedly noticed, things have gotten pretty slow around here. As my real estate career has taken off, I’ve had less and less time to devote to this blog. And the truth is, I’ve simply run out of steam,” Howard wrote in her final posting. “And though some might think it’s crazy to abandon such a successful venture, the fact is I’ve invested way more time than I was ever compensated for, and more importantly, I’m just not the kind of person who continues to do something when my heart just isn’t in it.”

Howard started NOCO STL in 2009 as a venture to positively promote what was happening in the North County area. In that time, she’s written a number of features and hosted a number of fun projects such as the Pizza Challenge last year.

She writes in the post that while she has no plans to sale the project, the website will remain active as an archive.

“… It’s my sincere hope that I’ve inspired somebody else in the community to step forward with their own creative endeavor, because just as it was three years ago when I started this blog, we need someone out there fighting for us, letting the rest of St. Louis know that our dear NoCo is still an awesome place to live, work and visit,” she wrote.
