The Soulard Art Market (S.A.M.) and Contemporary Gallery is calling for submissions to “RED,” a juried exhibition of art from June 4 through July 8.
Each artist may submit up to three original works. Most media with the exception of video or ceiling-suspended artwork is accepted. Artwork displayed in prior years may not be submitted.

RED, does this conjure up power or flashing lights or love or danger? St. Louis Cardinal Nation? How about “seeing red” or the red carpet or the hottest of the warm colors. Send S.A.M. your entries for a Red hot June at Soulard Art Market.
Submission Guidelines:

- No more than three pieces of work to be juried.
- Framed two dimensional artwork must be ready for hanging (no saw tooth hangers). Wire should be attached.
- Unframed “gallery wrapped” canvasses are acceptable.
- Sculpture should be no larger than 6 feet. Artists must provide their own pedestals, if needed.
- All artwork for consideration must be submitted via JPEG/JPG image.
- File size for each work cannot exceed 500kb and must be attached in jpg (jpeg) format.
- File Name should be named as such: Artists Name_Artwork title_Dimensions.jpg Example of File Name: (John Smith_Artwork 1_16x20.jpg).
- Late entries after the closing date of submission will not be accepted, no exceptions.
- Artists must be willing to have their artwork filmed or included in any press releases, articles, or other publications as seen fit by the show curators.
Note: If you receive an “error” message immediately after you submit, it probably went through. You will receive a confirmation of receipt from us within 24 hours, if you don’t receive that, then resubmit.
Dates and Deadlines:
- Electronic submissions by Sunday, May 29, 2011, at 5 p.m. (note this is Memorial Day weekend)
- Electronic accepted artist notification by Monday, May 30, 2011
- Opening reception:. Friday, June 10, 2011, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
- Pick up: Saturday and Sunday, July 9 - 10, 12:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Submission is free. Accepted artists must submit an operational costs’ fee of $30. There will be no commission; artists will retain 100 percent of sales. A $1,000 piece was sold in the April S.A.M. show, New Beginnings.
