More than 25,000 community residents gathered downtown to celebrate the Believe in Girls Day, a day hosted by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri in honor of 100 years of Girl Scouting. Mothers, daughters, fathers and sons spent the day partaking in hundreds of free activities moments after watching the Century of Promise parade. The parade featured more than 80 floats, balloons, marching bands and special units. Former NASA astronaut and Missouri native, Dr. Linda M. Godwin, was the Grand Marshall.
Taylor Feger and Alison White, two Girl Scouts from Hazelwood, participated in the Flash Mob shortly before being pulled on stage by the emcee.
“[The emcee] asked who is the best dancer and we just started jumping and screaming then he called us up on stage,” Alison said.
Both girls said that participating in the Flash Mob was their favorite activity. Thousands of attendees participated in the Flash Mob as it was one of the most anticipated events of the day. Many girls had been practicing the dance for months.

The Flash Mob performance took place during the family festival. Other standout activities that day included USTA SmashZone Tennis, a Foam Dance Pit hosted by Amberg Events and a Rock Climbing Wall hosted by Upper Limits.
Immediately following the FamFest celebrity performers took the stage. Performances by Zendaya, Ryan Beatty and Katherine Hughes rocked the main stage and closed out the BIG Day with a big bang.
