Hazelwood Police Department's Daytime Watch Commander Honored for 30 Years of Service
Lt. Ronald Livingston of the was recognized for his 30 years of service at a recent Hazelwood City Council meeting. Hazelwood Mayor Matthew G. Robinson presented him with his 30-year employee service recognition pin, as well as a monetary stipend to show the city’s appreciation for his years of dedicated service and commitment.
“It doesn’t seem like it’s been 30 years. I’ve appreciated the opportunity to work for the as a police officer,” Livingston said. “I enjoy coming to work every day. It makes the
time fly when you enjoy your job.”
Lt. Livingston started working for the Hazelwood Police Department on April 20, 1981, after serving more than two years as a police officer for St. Ann. Prior to his employment at Hazelwood, he graduated from
the Greater St. Louis Police Academy on February 8, 1979.
Livingston’s background also includes military service with the 1136th Military Police Unit of the Missouri Army National Guard, which was then headquartered at Jefferson Barracks. In addition, he double majored in Criminal Justice and Industrial Security at Tarkio College and earned his Bachelor of Science on October, 17, 1987.

Early in his career, Livingston received the “Officer of the Year Award” from the Jaycees. He was later assigned to the detective
bureau in 1990. One of his more noteworthy accomplishments was being selected as a member of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis where he worked his way up to a supervisor position.
According to Lt. Livingston, “I enjoyed working for the Major Case Squad. While I was a member, we solved all of our cases except one."

He said author Charles Bosworth even wrote a book on one of the cases on which he worked, entitled ‘A Killer among Us.’
"My name was mentioned in it,” he said.
After serving as a field training officer, Livingston was promoted to the rank of sergeant on January 7, 1998, and to his current position of Lieutenant on January 2, 2008.
Lt. Livingston currently serves as the Watch Commander for the day shift.
