Each school that donated $500 received a three-inch diameter Dred Scott commemorative penny. It features an image of Scott on one side and an image of President Abraham Lincoln on the other face.
Brender Benson, a vice president with M&I Bank, received the oversized commemorative check made by Jana students and she accepted checks from Hazelwood West Middle and McCurdy Elementary schools. The other HSD schools sent their donations directly to the bank.Β
