Geometry, art and English are a few of the many summer classes offered this summer.
Geometry--a math that involves points, lines and surfaces, measurements and their relation to space--utilized whiteboards filled with drawings of triangles and terminology related to each dayβs lessons as a method for teaching. Students approached the board to work the problem by drawing the correct lines to show their understanding.
Upstairs in an art classroom, the topic was art and design. Students learned the fundamental techniques like creating tints and shades of primary and secondary colors. Handouts explained art terms like color, prism, color spectrum, hue and value.

The short story, βThe Moustache,β by Robert Cormier captured the attention of students in Cynthia Holtβs English I class. Notes, outlines and objectives related to the story and the lesson covered the whiteboard.
Holt read some passages aloud as students followed along. At other times, she asked students to read aloud. The discussion focused on identifying themes from the story and taking notes. Throughout the lesson, students asked questions and shared their ideas about the story, considered hints about the plot and made observations, according to a Hazelwood School District statement.
