Laclede Gas Raises Record Amount to Help People Through United Way

There are thousands of people in our community who need help and the United Way’s efforts are crucial in providing that help.

For 35 years, Laclede Gas Company and its employees and retirees have supported the United Way with fundraising efforts in the community. This year, Laclede topped all previous records donating nearly three quarters of a million dollars ($747,314) to the United Way of Greater St Louis to better our community.

β€œHelping our neighbors is what we do. As I know firsthand from my long career here at Laclede, we have a stellar history of loyal employees who are willing to share with others – and this year’s campaign once again spotlights that dedication,” said Rick Skau, senior vice president of Human Resources for Laclede and United Way executive sponsor.

In addition to a pledge drive, Laclede generated support for United Way through employee and community events. At the 9th annual United We Grill Barbeque, Laclede served more than 550 meals to colleagues and downtown St. Louis neighbors who stopped by to enjoy music and a washers tournament. Musically-talented Laclede employees jammed out with β€œThe Heaters,” at the United Way Battle of the Corporate Bands, bringing home a second place trophy while raising funds for those in need.

Laclede Gas is proud to support the United Way of Greater St. Louis, who provide financial assistance to the 170 health and human service agencies that help one in three people throughout our region.
