We are looking for volunteers to assist in a variety of roles:
- Unit Commissioners:Β A unit commissioner makes monthly visits (per your own schedule) to Scouting units to help the units succeed in putting on quality programs. Β The unit commissioner is usually the unit's first contact for all things involving unit service. The unit may need advice on paperwork or camping properties, for example - a variety of topics. Β We provide training to be a unit commissioner. Β A familiarity of Scouting is not necessary.
- Unit Leaders:Β Β Unit leaders provide direct service to youths in a Cub Scout Pack (boys in grades 1-5), Boy Scout Troop (boys ages 11-17), or Venturing Crew (co-ed ages 13-20). Β Typically, units meet once weekly during the evenings and may have occasional weekend activities. Β If you are interested in volunteering for a short-term assignment or on an ongoing basis, please contact us for opportunities. Β Training is available. Β A familiarity of Scouting is not necessary.Β
- Single Activity Volunteers:Β Β Throughout the year, we have single activities (one-day and weekend) where one-time volunteers are needed. Β This is a good opportunity for college groups, schools, students, or service organizations. Β These include merit badge skill centers (e.g. teaching swimming or robotics skills to youths) and others. Β A familiarity of Scouting is not necessary.Β
Β
REQUIREMENTS:Β Β All volunteers must be at least 18 years old, submit to a criminal background check, and submit an adult application with the Boy Scouts of America. Registration fee of $15 may be required depending on position (inquire). Β
