Is Washing Your Hands Such A Hassle?
The Hand-Washing Debate: This blog post is a dedicated vent about how nasty it is when people don't wash their hands.

The most disgusting thing to me is when people, of any gender DONβT wash their hands. Lately I've gone to quite a few public places where I've seen a lull in people washing their hands after using public bathrooms, or after accepting cash at a checkout then running to grab food for a customer.
What is so hard about running warm water from a sink and putting a little soap in between that? It literately only takes 30 seconds to do just that.
This may be a pet peeve, but washing your hands is the best way of preventing the spread of diseases and infection. Itβs a easy concept that some people just donβt seem to know how to follow.

In sixth-grade a close friend of mine once said, βI donβt need to wash my hands. Iβm a boy!β
As he said those words, he had the nerve to reach his hand into the bag of chips that we were sharing. When he tried to do that, I said, βYou have got to be kidding me.β

I slapped his hand away so quick and demanded for him to wash his hands. I told him to never to try that disgusting habit on me again. He replied with a simple, βItβs no big deal. I do it all the time. You girls are always so uptight.β
And I just simply said to him, βwhatever.β
Even today, I see girls come in the bathroom at school, use the restroom, and just walk out. And I just look around like, βDid anyone else just see that?β
It drives me crazy!
Another incident occurred in seventh-grade, when a few friends and I were talking about this topic and this random boy came out of no where and said, βI donβt ever wash my hands unless I take a shower."
Mind you this boy had a very strong scent assumingly of dirty armpits and very stinky socks. Very shocked I replied, βAre you serious?β
He said he was, and even asked me to smell his hand, to which IΒ nicely responded with a βno thanks!β
There have been plenty of incidents that I have encountered throughout the 12 years that I have been going to school, from pre-k to tenth-grade. As I enter my junior this 2011-2012 school year, I really hope that I wonβt encounter those very nasty and awkward moments in the bathroom.
I think people of a certain age should know to wash their hands. But if these last two years of being in high school are an indicator, I know that I will see the germ-filled bad habit.
You tell me. Am I being too harsh on people?
