Senegalese superstar brings world music to Touhill stage

Experience one of the great mavericks of African music. Senegalese superstar Cheikh LΓ΄ brings his distinctive sound to the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center next month.

The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. April 12 in the E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Theater at the Touhill. The doors open at 6:40 p.m. for a pre-show discussion.

Cheikh LΓ΄ draws influence from the music of West and Central Africa, as well as Cuban and flamenco. LΓ΄ is a superb singer and songwriter as well as a distinctive guitarist, percussionist and drummer. He’s touring in support of his fifth album β€œJamm.”
