First Bank Helps Cover St. Louis Area With Warmth
Employees donate 175 new electric blankets, raise $5,200 for EnergyCare
With temperatures starting to drop, First Bank employees on Tuesday, December 15 donated 175 new electric blankets and raised $5,200 on behalf of EnergyCare, a non-profit organization located in St. Louis.
“Our employees really stepped up and I cannot thank them enough for their generous donations,” said Ed Furman, First Bank Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer who organized the employee effort with First Bank. “Their giving spirit will help more St. Louisans stay warm and safe this winter.”
In addition to the electric blankets, 66 new conventional blankets were donated to EnergyCare. Since 1999, First Bank employees have donated a total of 2,108 blankets valued at $57,000. In the summer, First Bank employees also donated new air conditioners to EnergyCare. Combined, First Bank has raised $70,331 in summer donations and $57,201 in the winter for a total of $127,533 for the non-profit during the past 16 years.

Helping Furman load the blankets onto the EnergyCare truck was Gene Todd (Executive Vice President – Managing Director of the Wealth Management Group; Ken Eisler, Senior Vice President, Product and Segment Manager – Business Banking; Cherie Leahy, Operations Supervisor; Angie Arndt, Vice President; Tim O’Dea, Executive Director, EnergyCare; James Owen, Assistant to the Executive Director, EnergyCare; and Justine Collum, Development Assistant, EnergyCare.
EnergyCare relies on generous donations to help to keep low-income, homebound and medically-at-risk people safe. EnergyCare provides energy-related services and information for the low-income elderly, ill, disabled and families with young children in St. Louis City and County. Donations are tax deductible.
