Hazelwood Signs on with Central County Emergency 911

It's official. The City of Hazelwood will be part of Central County Emergency 911 (CCE911) effective Nov. 1.

City Attorney Kevin O'Keefe read a resolution on the matter at the May 15 Hazelwood City Council meeting and said the relationship with North Central County Fire Alarm will cease to exist after Oct. 31.

Hazelwood Fire Chief Dave Radel said the change is due to the dissolution of of the north central dispatch. City councilman Robert Aubuchon and he have been dealing with negotiations and finding a solution to the matter for most of the year, he said.

"I firmly believe this new dispatch service will be a step up in quality and technology," he said.

Contract Details
Radel also said the new deal will be a little cheaper than the current agreement. The city will pay CCE911 3.5 cents per $100 of the total assessed valuation of the district for the preceding year for which real estate taxes are actually collected. 

For example, if the city has an overall assessed valuation of $10 million and the city collectes real estate taxes on $9.5 million ($500,000 is either paid under protest of not paid), the fee paid to CCE911 would be based on assessed valuation of $9.5 million. 

End of North Central
Due to financial issues, the North Central County Fire Alarm dispatching agency plans to shut down Oct. 31. It services Berkeley, Ferguson, Hazelwood and Jennings fire departments and the Black Jack, Community, Florissant Valley, Kinloch, Metro North, Mid County, Pattonville, Riverview, Robertson, Spanish Lake and West Overland fire protection districts,  as well as the Northeast Ambulance and Fire Protection District and Christian Northeast Ambulance District.

They are all working on deals with CCE911. 

CCE911 Expands South Also
The Central County Emergency 911 will also be moving south. Effective July 1, fire districts and departments in South County will use the service because South County Fire Alarm dispatching agency is also closing its doors.

The fire districts and fire departments South County Fire Alarm serves include Mehlville, Lemay, Affton, Fenton, Valley Park, Crestwood and Eureka.
