Minnesota Vikings Release Hazelwood Native LaMark Brown, Sign Robert Steeples

Hazelwood Native LaMark Brown is looking for a new home.

The Minnesota Vikings released him, along with 12 other players, in order to reach a 75 man roster restriction on August 26, 2013.

Brown was a member of the Vikings practice squad, and would have been playing with another North County product Robert Steeples. 

The Vikings signed Steeples on Wednesday. He is a Florissant native and De Smet Jesuit graduate, who originally signed with the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent. 

The former University of Missouri and University of Memphis cornerback departed from the Rams upon release in the preseason.

Teams are allowed to keep a roster of eight practice players, who each make at least $6,000 per week. Players on practice squads are eligible to be signed to any other team's active roster, except in the case of their "team's upcoming opponent, unless they do so six days before the upcoming game or 10 days if their team is currently on a bye week," according to The Bleacher Report.

One Vikings writer reports that Steeples will be issued the uniform number 26, most recently worn by Antoine Winfield, a veteran Vikings defensive back who recently retired.

Brown was signed on as an undrafted free agent wide receiver with the Atlanta Falcons in 2012. He has also been a member of the Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Utah Blaze.

He played college football at Kansas State and Minnesota State, serving dual roles as a wide receiver and running back.
