Minnesota Vikings Release Hazelwood Native LaMark Brown, Sign Robert Steeples

The St. Louis Rams released Steeples in the preseason. He will now be a part of the Vikings practice squad. The Vikings also released Hazelwood native LaMark Brown.

Hazelwood Native LaMark Brown is looking for a new home.

TheΒ Minnesota VikingsΒ released him, along with 12 other players, in order to reach a 75 man roster restriction onΒ August 26, 2013.

BrownΒ was a member of the Vikings practice squad, and would have been playing with another North County product Robert Steeples.Β

The Vikings signedΒ Steeples on Wednesday. He is aΒ Florissant native andΒ De Smet Jesuit graduate, who originally signed withΒ the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent.Β

The former University of Missouri andΒ University of MemphisΒ cornerback departed from the Rams uponΒ release in the preseason.

Teams are allowed to keep a roster of eight practice players,Β who each make at least $6,000 per week. Players on practice squads are eligible to be signed to any other team's active roster, except in the case of their "team's upcoming opponent, unless they do so six days before the upcoming game or 10 days if their team is currently on a bye week,"Β according to The Bleacher Report.

One Vikings writer reports thatΒ Steeples will be issued the uniform number 26,Β most recently worn by Antoine Winfield, a veteran Vikings defensive back who recently retired.

Brown was signed on as an undrafted free agentΒ wide receiverΒ with theΒ Atlanta FalconsΒ in 2012. He has also been a member of theΒ Buffalo Bills,Β Tampa Bay BuccaneersΒ andΒ Utah Blaze.

He played college football at Kansas State and Minnesota State,Β serving dual roles as aΒ wide receiver and running back.
