More Tornado Siren Tests Planned This Week
Some of the sirens couldn't be heard outdoors during last week's storms.

Last Tuesdayβs late-night storms gave St. Louis County tornado sirens a live testβjust weeks after a system-wide test of the new sirensβbut it appears that they didn't all operate as intended.
David "Duff" Barney, with St. Louis County Emergency Communications Commission, announced this morning that individual sirens will be retested later this week.
βWe got calls from folks who said they couldnβt hear the sirens outdoors,β Barney said. βWeβre just checking to make sure the sirens are operating according to the manufacturers' specifications.β

Barney said he received no complaints that the sirens were too loud.

The tests are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., weather permitting. So if you hear them go off throughout the , you now know why.
Each test will be preceded by a voice announcement, followed by a one-minute alert tone, and then concluded with a voice announcement.
Barney said the final list of test sirens hasn't been identified yet.
