Paige Frye is Miss Hazelwood

The Hazelwood West High School senior was crowned Miss Hazelwood at Harvestfest. Frye will be an ambassador for the city for the next year.

Hazelwood Mayor Matthew Robinson summed up best the role Miss Hazelwood plays as an ambassador for the city.Β 

β€œWe try to reach out to other people and let them know how great Hazelwood is,” he said during the coronation process at Hazelwood Harvestfest on Sept. 14. β€œHearing these girls talk about growing up in Hazelwood is very exciting.” 

The girls would be the 2013 candidates seeking to be crowned Miss Hazelwood, but only one was selected at that was Hazelwood West High School seniorΒ Paige Frye.

As Miss HazelwoodΒ Frye said she plans toΒ support the cityΒ by going to other communities and letting them know "what we have going on.”

Reigning 2012 Miss Hazelwood, Kirsten Henderson, passed on her crown andΒ said being Miss Hazelwood really opened her eyes to the city's greatness.Β

β€œI’ve lived here my whole life and I thought I knew all about it, but I had no clue," she said. "I met so many new people and just thought everything I saw was so sweet."

Along with being Miss Hazelwood, Frye is alsoΒ active at school as aΒ including VIPs, student council member, National Honors Society member, pep band and marching band member,Β secretary of the senior class, A+ and Special Olympics volunteer and an alter girl at church.

She alsoΒ babysits, works at Dairy Queen and is aΒ life guard at White Birch Bay Aquatic Center.

As Miss Hazelwood, Frye gets aΒ $500 scholarship and other prizes to be named later, according to the City of Hazelwood.Β
