Patch Picks: How To Celebrate Easter This Week

There will be two Patch Picks lists this week. Today, check out events occurring throughout the week in recognition of Easter. On Friday, come back for some great Easter gift ideas.

There are Easter Bunny sightings, opportunities to decorate your own Easter basket, and ample Easter church services inviting you to find the true meaning of the day on the list. Be sure to tell us how you celebrated throughout the week.

  1. Easter Bunny Photos: At just about any shopping mall in the St. Louis area, those wishing to get a photo in with the Easter Bunny have until April 23 to do so. Area malls including have made the holiday pastime more technological. At only, get a β€œBunny Fast Pass” for the line to see the Easter Bunny by prepurchasing photo packages online. Remember, visits with the Easter Bunny are free! Professional photo packages start at $20.Β

  • Easter Basket Decorating: Are you looking for a way to bond with your child over the Easter holiday? Head over to the , located at 1 James J. Eagen Drive in Florissant on at 10 a.m. Wednesday. There will be Easter basket decoration time, along with other arts and crafts and a light snack. The Easter bunny will be in the building, as well. Enjoy it all for a small fee of $5 for residents and $7 for nonresidents.Β 

  • Easter Egg Hunt at Zion United Church of Christ: At 11 a.m., on Saturday Zion United Church of Christ, located at 5710 North Highway 67 will be hosting an Easter egg hunt. The annual event is free. Parents are asked to supply their own baskets in which to collect eggs.

  • Easter Eggstravaganza for Kids: The City of Hazelwood will host its Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The city has been working with Valley Industries in preparation for the event and will have 14,000 hidden eggs for eager children, ages 10 and younger. There will be a bunny trail to the staging area at White Birch Park located at 1186 Teson Road. The park will be divided into five age divisions: children younger than 24 months, children 2 to 3 years old, children ages 4 to 5 years old, children ages 6 to 7 years old and children ages 8 to 10 years old. There will be a bike giveaway in each age group, and the Piwacket Children's Theater will present a "Puppet Jamboree" in the gymnasium inside the . This is a free event.

  • Easter Service at Fee Fee Baptist Church: Looking for a place to worship and find the true meaning of Easter? Celebrate Easter at Fee Fee Baptist Church on Easter Sunday. There is a 7 a.m. early worship service, a community breakfast at 8 a.m., Bible study at 9 a.m., and a late worship service that begins at 10:30 a.m. Fee Fee Baptist Church is located at 11330 Saint Charles Rock Road.

  • Easter Dramatic and Musical Presentation at Spirit and Truth Church: Come celebrate Easter by seeing a dramatic and musical presentation at located at 8727 Dunn Road in Hazelwood. The service begins promptly at 10 a.m., Easter Sunday.

  • Easter Services at First Christian Church of Florissant: You have four chances to celebrate at First Christian Church of Florissant (FCCF) on Easter Sunday, April 24. Come celebrate at 7:50 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., or 7 p.m. FCCF is located at 2890 Patterson Road in Florissant.

  • Easter SMACKDOWN at First Assembly of God in O’Fallon: If you’re in the mood for something a little different this Easter, head to O’Fallon, MO. First Assembly of God Church will host a special service on Easter Sunday. Service time is 10 a.m. Witness the ultimate "Good" vs. "Evil" where two professional wrestlers will fight the ultimate death match while the church's pastor narrates the Easter message. The church is located at 8759 Veteran’s Memorial Parkway in O’Fallon.

  • A Theatrical Easter Production: New Sunny Mount Missionary Baptist Church and its nationally known choir, has put on a theatrical Easter production for more than 15 years. If you are looking to celebrate this day with an emotional, heartfelt depiction be sure to stop by Sunday. Service begins at 10 a.m. The church is located at 4700 West Florissant Avenue in St. Louis.

  • Easter Sunday Brunch: The Missouri Botanical Garden's Easter brunch is is a longstanding event in St. Louis. Diners can feast on ham, roast beef, French toast, pasta, salads, desserts and more. There are three seating sessions at 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. The cost is $27.95 for adults and $13.95 for children 5 to 12 years old. Children younger than 5 are free. To make a reservation, call 314-577-0200, ext. 1. The botanical garden is located at 4344 Shaw Boulevard in St. Louis.
