CVS Health is now offering no-cost drive-thru COVID-19 testing at select CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide. Tests are available by appointment only to eligible individuals meeting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria, in addition to state and age guidelines. A physician's referral is not required.

Please note: If you have a medical emergency or need immediate assistance, dial 911.

Testing will not be available at all CVS Pharmacy locations. To find test site locations in a specific state, determine eligibility and schedule an appointment, visit CVS.com. Here's how it works:

  1. Answer a few questions to see if you qualify for COVID-19 testing.
  2. Select a test site and available time.
  3. Bring proof of identity and in-state residence, as well as your test confirmation email or text message. Be sure to have your mobile phone in case the provider needs to reach you.
  4. When you arrive at the testing site, stay in your car and follow the posted instructions. A testing professional will check your paperwork and walk you through the test.

How The Test Is Administered

While you remain in the car, you will be given a swab and asked to collect a sample of nasal secretions. This is done by inserting the swab into your nostril approximately 1 inch into the nasal passage (midway) with the most visible drainage or the nostril that is most congested if drainage is not present. The swab is rotated several times, removed gently, and this process is repeated on the other side. You will need to administer your own nasal swab or bring someone who can do it for you.

How Quickly You Can Expect Results
