The 28th annual drive will come to a close on Saturday morning beginning at 10 a.m. when scouts canvas area neighborhoods to retrieve bags dropped off last Saturday.
Did you get a Scouting for Food bag placed on your mailbox or doorstep last week by a local boy scout? If so, youβve still got time to fill itβbut not much.
The bags will be picked up on Saturday morning around Hazelwood, according to the scoutsβ North Star District Communications Chairman Fred Schaljo.

How Your Donations Help Local Families in Need
βThis is the 28th annual drive where 30,000 scouts and their leaders put out 1.4 million bags in Missouri last Saturday,β Schaljo said. βMore than 500 food pantries rely on Scouting for Food and the generosity of the community to help stock their shelves before the holiday season and the cold winter months.β
Schaljo added that Scouting for Food donations provide up to a four-month supply for some pantries.
βScouts are taught the value of helping others with this program,β he added. βSince the program started 27 years ago, 4.5 million cans have been collected.β
