Movies Debut: Taylor was just 10-years-old when she made her screen debut in Thereβs One Born Every Minute, where she sang a duet with βLittle Rascalβ Alfalfa.
Studio Magic: Taylor worked for Universal Studios before she worked for MGM. Lassie Come Home was the first production she did for MGM. In 1949 Taylor, who was 17 at the time, was allowed to play her first adult role in the movie Conspirator, opposite Robert Taylor.

Hopeless Romantic: Taylor was in love with falling in love. She was married eight times, had four children and a Maltese named Daisy. She married Larry Fortensky (whom she met in rehab at the Betty Ford Center in 1988) at Michael Jacksonβs Neverland Ranch. She made 11 movies with husband Richard Burton, whom she married twice.
Millionaire: Taylor was the first actress to earn $1 million in a movie, for her role in the most expensive film ever made, Cleopatra.
Award Winner: Taylor was nominated four consecutive years for an Academy Award, and won her her first Oscar for her performance as Gloria Wondrous in Butterfield 8. Toy company Mattel made a doll that was based on her prostitute character in that movie.
Β Activist: Taylor was an avid activist who raised more than $200 million for AIDS research. In 1993 she was given the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and Queen Elizabeth II made Taylor a Dame in 2000.
Back to Life: Taylor has said that she had a scar on her neck from tracheotomy surgery in 1960. She was said to have died during that surgery and come back after seeing a white light. She had more than 100 surgeries in her lifetime.
Media Mania: Taylor has been on the cover of People magazine 14 times; second only to Princess Diana in magazine features.
Multidimensional: Taylor was the first celebrity to brand a fragrance. Three of her notable perfumes include Passion, White Diamonds and Black Pearls. This year marks White Diamonds 20 year anniversary and global sales of the scent, which is Elizabeth Arden manufactures, reached $61.3 million in 2010. White Diamonds is part of the Fragrance Hall of Fame.
