1. New details about how Kansas City, Missouri, plans to pay for Royals stadium become available (kshb.com) — Kansas City's Economic Development Corporation has released new details on how the city would fund its $600 million share of a proposed downtown Royals stadium near 25th and Gillham. The plan relies on a tax increment financing district that redirects new tax revenue and may add a 1% sales tax inside a community improvement district. The city's TIF Commission could review the proposal as soon as August 26.

Kansas City moves to correct court filing that said Mayor Lucas ordered media audit (fox4kc.com) — Kansas City officials are scrambling to fix a court filing that appeared to contradict Mayor Quinton Lucas' repeated denials that he ordered an audit of local media coverage. The city now says lawyers made an inadvertent error and has revised its response in a lawsuit by former assistant city manager Melissa Kozakiewicz, while a First Amendment attorney warns officials against trying to influence press coverage.

Waldo businesses broken into this week say damage outweighs what was taken (kshb.com) — Several small businesses in Kansas City's Waldo neighborhood are dealing with costly damage after break-ins this week where the thief stole very little cash but shattered doors and created major cleanup. Owners at Eclectics Gallery and City Barrel are urging neighbors to support them by shopping local as police continue to investigate and search for a suspect.
4. Here's how to help Kansas City farmers markets win a share of $15,000 (kctv5.com) — Kansas City–area farmers markets are competing in a national contest that will award $15,000 in prize money to top vote-getters, and local shoppers can help decide the winners. Several Kansas City markets, including City Market and Downtown Lee's Summit, are already climbing the rankings. You can search for your favorite market and cast a vote online through September 30.

Nonprofit shows the dangers of leaving children in hot cars, provides safety tips (fox4kc.com) — A North Kansas City nonprofit is using a live demonstration at Oakes Auto Group to show how quickly a parked car can become deadly hot for children, even on a 90-degree day.
