COMBAT sales tax helps individuals in recovery find employment (kshb.com) — Kansas City residents are being asked this November to renew the COMBAT anti-crime sales tax that helps fund Healing House KC's recovery and employment programs. The Kansas City nonprofit says the quarter-cent tax supports housing and job services for hundreds of people in recovery, including many who might otherwise be homeless. Local voters will decide whether this funding continues.

The one-hour performance runs from 2–3:30 p.m. and highlights favorite holiday music in the heart of the Country Club Plaza shopping and dining district.
3. Man shot July 4 in Kansas City, Missouri, died this week; death ruled a homicide (kshb.com) — A 37-year-old man who was shot on July 4 in east Kansas City has died from his injuries, and Jackson County authorities have now ruled the case a homicide. Kansas City police are working with prosecutors on possible charges and are asking anyone with information to contact them or Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Kansas City taxpayers on the hook for $900K settlement with city employee (fox4kc.com) — Kansas City taxpayers will cover a $900,000 settlement to resolve a lawsuit from former city social media manager April Leonard, who alleged discrimination, retaliation and a hostile work environment. City leaders say the payout highlights broader concerns about how Kansas City handles employee complaints, as several other discrimination-related cases from current and former workers remain pending.
