• Adair County SB40's September 2026 Spotlight Award Recipient: Nathan Cox (kirksvilledailyexpress.com) — A Kirksville resident, Nathan Cox, has been honored with Adair County SB40's September Outstanding Employee Spotlight Award for his decade of work and inclusion at Pagliai's Pizza. Local residents can nominate kids, teens, volunteers, and workers year-round for future Spotlight Awards, with overall winners to be chosen in January 2027 and details available on SB40's website or by phone.
   

• Criminal charges issued for Kirksville woman for drug and weapon offenses (centralmoinfo.com) — A Kirksville woman faces multiple drug and weapon charges after a July search of her Crest Trail home reportedly uncovered drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and a stolen handgun. Residents should note that her initial court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, as the case proceeds through Adair County's legal system.
   

• MDC receives new land addition to Morris Prairie Conservation Area (mo.gov) — From Kirksville, conservation officials have announced a 128-acre addition to the Morris Prairie Conservation Area, funded by a donation from the Anesi family. The new tract will be restored to native grassland and is expected to open to the public in spring 2027, expanding outdoor and wildlife habitat opportunities for residents across northern Missouri.
