Former players, neighbors, and a would-be buyer voice frustration and hopes that the property can again serve youth sports or community use instead of sitting as a neglected "weed pit."
   

• This Missouri wildlife photographer spent 23 years trying to get his perfect shot (kcur.org) — Kirkwood residents can hear renowned Missouri wildlife photographer Noppadol Paothong share stories and tips at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. His talk will highlight decades of patient fieldwork, from prairie chickens under the moon to rare moths and salamanders, and offer practical advice for capturing nature photos even with just a smartphone.
   

• Powder Valley Nature Center welcomes families to Trek or Treat Critter Crawl Oct. 17 (mo.gov) — Families in Kirkwood can enjoy a free Trek or Treat Critter Crawl at Powder Valley Nature Center on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Kids and adults can wear costumes, collect candy along Tanglevine Trail, and learn about Missouri wildlife like bats, owls, snakes, and spiders on an easy, stroller-friendly path.
