Green thumbs young and old in Kirkwood will join more than one billion people who will participate in Earth Day activities this year. On Monday, April 22, residents and staff of the Aberdeen Heights senior living community will join Robinson Elementary students to celebrate Earth Day and beautify the Kirkwood community.
In the morning, Aberdeen Heights residents will help first- and fifth-grade students pick up trash, pull weeds and enhance a koi pond at Robinson. They’ll also plant a dogwood tree on the school’s campus, which was donated by The Home Depot on Sunset Hills Plaza in St. Louis. Later in the day, three third-grade classes from Robinson will head to Aberdeen Heights, where they’ll learn to plant in the community’s raised garden beds. The students will also pot plants as gifts for skilled nursing residents at the community.
