Economist Alan Blinder to Speak at STLCC-Meramec

Respected economic thinker Alan S. Binder will discuss the financial crisis and its lessons during a lecture and book signing Feb. 8 at St. Louis Community College-Meramec. 

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place 7 p.m. in the gymnasium on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road in Kirkwood. It is sponsored by Left Bank Books and St. Louis Community College. Blinder’s book, “After the Music Stopped: The Financial Crisis, the Response and the Work Ahead,” will be available for sale in advance and at the event from Left Bank Books. 

During the lecture, Blinder will show how the U.S. financial system, which has grown far too complex for its own good, experienced a perfect storm beginning in 2007. 

Blinder currently teaches at Princeton University, where he is co-director of Princeton’s Center for Economic Policy Studies. He also served as President Bill Clinton’s first Council of Economic Advisors and the vice chair of the Federal Reserve Board.
