Kirkwood School District Announces Appointment of Administrative Intern for North Glendale

Dr. Todd Benben, principal at North Glendale Elementary School, announced the appointment of Dr. Masa Massenburg as administrative intern for North Glendale Elementary for the 2013-14 school year.  Massenburg currently serves as a literacy specialist for North Kirkwood Middle School.  Massenburg will begin her new position July 1, 2013.

Massenburg holds a doctorate in philosophy from St. Louis University and a master’s degree in teaching from Webster University.  She received her bachelor’s degree in political science from DePaul University. 

Massenburg has 15 years of teaching experience at both the elementary and secondary level and has had experiences in both urban and suburban school districts.  She joined the Kirkwood School District as a fifth grade teacher at Westchester Elementary School. 

Massenburg has provided leadership in a plethora of areas including school improvement, best practices in teaching, multicultural awareness, behavior management, strategic planning, and educational equity.  She is passionate about partnering with all stakeholders of the school community to ensure achievement for all students.

The position is due to increased enrollment.  North Glendale’s enrollment is 530 students and standard practice has been that when a building exceeds 500 students, an administrative intern is added to the staff. Dr. Keith Price currently holds the position.  He will return to the classroom at North Glendale.
