St. Joseph’s Academy Names Diane B. Cooper, Ed. D., Principal

Diane B. Cooper, Ed. D., has been named principal of St. Joseph’s Academy (SJA).  Making the announcement was Anita Reznicek, president of the private, Catholic all-female college preparatory school in Frontenac, Mo. Founded in 1840, the school is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJ).

As principal, Cooper will lead SJA’s 55-member faculty and 590 students in its mission to develop values-driven women leaders, prepared in body, mind and spirit “to make a profound impact on the world” in keeping with the tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

“Dr. Cooper is a consummate professional with an exemplary record in education spanning more than four decades,” said Reznicek. “She will team with Assistant Principal Karen Davis and me to form the first all-lay administration in the 173-year history of the school.”

Most recently, Dr. Cooper was an assistant professor in the school of education at Webster University in St. Louis where in addition to classroom responsibilities she led its student teaching and practicum program. Previously, she was head of school at Columbus School for Girls, a pre- K-12 school with 660 students in Columbus, Ohio; head of school at St. Edward’s School in Vero Beach, Fla.; and principal of two Catholic grade schools in Texas.
