STLCC Reaffirmed as Member of League for Innovation Board

St. Louis Community College has been reaffirmed as a member of the Board of Directors of the League for Innovation in the Community College.

Founded in 1968, the League for Innovation in the Community College is dedicated to catalyzing the community college movement. More than 750 institutions and their campuses from 11 different countries and territories make up the league.

As a founding member of the league and one of only 19 board members, St. Louis Community College continues its leadership role in this organization, characterized by Change Magazine as the "most dynamic organization in the community college world."

Its commitment to progressive academic practices, cutting edge technology and other innovations has enabled community colleges to stay competitive as global centers of learning and advancement,” said Myrtle E.B. Dorsey, Ph.D., STLCC chancellor. “We are honored to continue our association with this prestigious organization.”

The league requires institutions to go through a rigorous self-examination process, including a site visit by league members, for reaffirmation after a change in leadership.

STLCC is the premier provider of education and workforce training in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Since its founding in 1962, more than 1.2 million students have benefited from courses and services offered by the college. It serves an area of more than 700 square miles that includes St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and portions of Franklin and Jefferson counties.
