Summer Reading—Kickoff Day at Kirkwood Public Library
Summer Reading Kickoff Day at Kirkwood Public Library.
The school year is just about over. And with the changing of the seasons comes warm evenings, music festivals, cookouts, chlorine-ridden hair and road trips. So break out that sunscreen and don some stylish shades. Summer is right around the corner and the library is gearing up for summer reading. In celebration, whether you are sipping lemonade in your backyard hammock or lounging by the lake, you’ll definitely want to stock up on a handful of summer reads. Luckily, Kirkwood Public Library has you covered. Come celebrate our community wide Summer Reading Kickoff on Saturday, May 18 from 10am-2pm. Bring the entire family for a whirlwind of hands-on activities as you “Dig Into Something New;” activities will include cake decorating, origami, zumba, airbrushing for model railroads, jewelry making and more. In addition, you won’t want to miss the Magic House and Ted Drewes’ ice cream outside. Come early and don’t forget to sign up for our adult, teen, or children’s summer reading program. And remember to track your hours/books online. Prizes are available (while supplies last) until August 10, 2013. Not sure what to read? Ask a librarian!
Miranda Rosbach is the Reference Manager at Kirkwood Public Library. She is currently reading The Round House by Louise Erdrich and listening to Josh Ritter's latest album.
