Thank you to our supporters!

A special thank you to all of our supporters, including longtime supporter Myrtle Walker.

I had the honor of attending our Great Friend to Kids Donor Appreciation Breakfast this past week at The Magic House. The breakfast honors individuals and organizations that have made an outstanding contribution to the lives of children.  This award was first created by the Association of Children’s Museums to honor those on a national level, but The Magic House, as have other children’s museums, adopted it for our supporters as well.  This year our honoree was Myrtle Walker. Myrtle and her family have made such an impact on The Magic House  - you may recognize the name from our beloved Walker Pond - the favorite fishing hole in the Children’s Village, the Victorian Pavilion in our backyard or the Legislative Chamber in the Star-Spangled Center, all of which have been made possible by her generous support.  Most recently Myrtle’s generosity helped us in creating the new and extremely popular Art Studio.  This area of the museum was in much need for an update and Myrtle’s support allowed us to develop a beautiful space where children can let their creativity go wild! We are honored to have Myrtle as a longtime supporter at The Magic House and can’t thank her enough for all she has done for us!

A few people that I have met are surprised to hear that The Magic House is a not-for-profit organization. And unlike many other cultural institutions in the St. Louis
area, The Magic House is a self-supporting 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that receives no ongoing tax support.  It is our amazing supporters and donors that help us to continue to provide children with hands-on learning experiences everyday – whether for a family visiting for the first time or for the nearly 45,000 children visiting on fieldtrips or the additional 20,000 kids that get to experience The Magic House in their own classrooms, libraries and child-care facilities.  It is from donations from people like you that help to make sure that every child has access to the experience we offer. Thank you to all of our supporters!

It was an honor being a part of this year’s breakfast, perhaps I may see you at next year’s donor appreciation breakfast?  If you are considering a donation this time of year, please consider The Magic House. Visit www.magichouse.org for more details on what we are doing to help our community and how you can be
a part of that work.
