Vianney Community Joins Forces for Day of Service

St. John Vianney High School Freshmen, Sophomores, Staff, Parents, and Alumni will gather at work sites around St. Louis on Tuesday, May 14th for the school's 4th Annual Service Day.

A Day of Service on Tuesday, May 14th at sites around St. Louis, including in the City of Kirkwood, will bring St. John Vianney's freshmen, sophomores, teachers, staff and alumni together to make our community a better place. In all, 343 students will be working in service projects around St. Louis on Tuesday.

A large contingent of Vianney students and teachers will spend their day on Tuesday, may 14th, helping to beautify local municipal parks in the City of Kirkwood. Another large group of workers will descend upon the Washington Park Cemetery in Berkely, Mo, by Lambert-St. Louis Airport. There, they will work on landscaping the cemetery, which has been the center of revitalization efforts for the past several years, according to Sean Scanlon, a Vianney teacher who is helping coordinate the Service Day effort.

For the past four years, Vianney has enlisted its Freshmen, Sophomores, Staff, Teachers, Parents and Alumni to participate in this Day of Service. Students report to school for a prayer service, then go to service sites around the area. Vianney seniors have completed their studies for the year and will graduate on Saturday, May 18th. The juniors are working on individual service projects throughout the remainder of the school year. The Day of Service for the younger classes was a natural fit, and the school provides transportation service to service sites.
