Eureka will now have 5 grains hardness? Is 5 grain hardness the same as zero hardness?

5 grain hardness is still moderate hardness and it will damage your hot water heater and hot water appliances.  Soap scum will also return in your bath and shower if you bypass your softener. 5 is still hard water. In fact this upgrade will not affect the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) of the water.
